After a short period of absense, because I went to Bulgaria(be aware for my future posts) with Cristiano and Dana, here I am again to continue with the happenings of our first day in Saloniki.
Yota drove for a while through the Greek roads and freeways, and if I thought portuguese drivers were bad, be happy my fellow mates, because here in Greece it's "each one for himself"! Drivers don't respect anything, not even themselves. The safety belt is understood as an unuseful accessory and they simply don't use it. Maybe the "SAFETY belt" translation was somewhere misunderstood in between.
As we drove for Saloniki, we realized that all good houses and buildings were falling behind and we were aproaching of the old zone and ancient city, and for people like us, that are used to live in Paranhos, Porto, where all city comes together, it was not a feeling of "home sweet home" the one that we had. So, and with the 3 owners of the house: Afroditi(curious name..), Dimitrios and his father, who we don't recognize the name, so we baptized him "Xaristo", or in good portuguse, annoying!
It was a dark, and poorly decorated house, and the presentation they made about it was not that captivating. But, and after a long day, we just wanted to be left alone to explore by ourselves and get some rest. Around here we have small shops with everything for the daily basis, but now that we know the city, we realized that they sell stuff much more than in other stores. We also knew from that they on that bus nº 23, would be our best friend. We can go to the city center and to the seaside just in 15/20m which is awesome! Finally, and before go away, Yota gave us 2 bus tickets and some explanations, because the next day we should go to the University of ATEI. That was the last day we saw YOTA. Just between us, the fact that she went away after drinking water from the tap, and as if it wasn't enough, she also pour it down on a glass that had long seen the fresh and clean "taste" of water...
The bed was with IKEA sheets from the kids department. Another two details that I have to tell you is that we've a third room that we simply don't know what's behind of the dorr, cause we're not allowed to get inside..and the house is always cold, like Syberia in it's worst days!!
Well, we were ready to face Saloniki, and ERASMUS! It was the beggining of our experience =)
